Advice needed from Aspergers /Autism parents in UK please.?
I have 4 children, 3 girls and 1 boy. Son was diagnosed as severely autistic at age 2 and 1 of my daughters has always been a bit "quirky". Late talker (age 2) and late walker (age 3). I am now concerned as she gets older (she is now 8) she struggles terribly in social situations, has tantrums about silly little things, says she has no friends and is quite generally unhappy unless she is watching her favourite programme on tv, repeatedly. She is a whizz at maths but not english, handwriting is poor, low muscle tone and diagnosed with hypermobility at age 3. Should I be taking her for a diagnosis or am I just seeing her as different from her sisters because of my son. I don't want to scare her by trying to "find" a problem but at the same time don't want to hinder her by missing one either, any advice gratefully received. Thanks.
5 AnswersSpecial Education8 years agoIs there a way to find out who reported you for benefit fraud?
Surely if you are reported for benefit fraud and are completely innocent this is slander and you should be told who has done it. I don't know who to trust anymore.
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 years agoWhat do you do if your child's best friend is constantly dropping her.?
my 8 yr old was invited to her "best friends" birthday tea party but the girls cousin was also there which ended with my daughter being ignored amidst lots of giggling and general nastiness. My daughter is quite shy whereas her friend is bolshy and confident. How involved should you get as a parent or is it better to let your child learn the hard way. I was always dropped by my best friend as a child when someone else came along and then picked back up again when it suited. It breaks my heart that history is going to repeat itself.

6 AnswersCurrent Events10 years agoDo you have to pay council tax on a flat you don't sleep in?
Our son is starting special school shortly and it is 40 miles away, instead of travelling there and back ttwice a day we are considering renting a flat to use daily from 9am til 3pm when he finishes school. If we don't actually sleep in the flat (or maybe occasionally in winter if the weather is bad) would we have to pay council tax for it. Thanks.

1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoWhat are my rights with my son starting school (special needs)?
My son (4.5) has autism and is due to start school in Sept (mainstream). We are having a meeting with school and autism team and SALT on Monday, they want to delay him starting until Oct to let the new starters settle in and also want him to go full days straight away. We think they are delaying the start as they haven't got a teaching assistant for him yet (job still isn't even advertised). We want him to start in Sept with all the other children and for him to go morning up until christmas to see how it goes. What are our rights as parents or do we have to do what the school says. (he has a full statement - 30 hours). Thanks

6 AnswersSkin Conditions1 decade agoAllen Carrs EASYWAY to stop smoking?
I'm a secret smoker and have been for nearly 10 years, nobody apart from my husband knows I smoke, I only do it at home around the back of the house. I am half way through this book and very excited about being able to stop but also a bit sceptical still, when I smoke my "last cigarette" I know the next morning when the kids have gone of to school I will miss my routine of sitting on the step with a coffee and having my first of 15 a day. My question is do I get rid of all my packets or keep one unopened in the cupboard, a bit if advice from anyone who has used this book would be hugely appreicated, thanks.

We've just bought my daughter 2 male guinea pigs (6 weeks old) as our last rabbit died last week. We bought a sack full of super rabbit mix before he died, can the guinea pigs eat it or should I bin it. I have read several websites but had differing opinions so would appreciate an answer from someone with experience, many thanks.
11 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoWhat are direct payments and how do they work.?
W have respite care for our son, we're supposed to get 5 hrs a week but only get 2, they are meant to be flexible which is ok as long as it's wednesday 12.30 - 2.30 !! TBH it's not working for us and I dread her coming, we had appointments with psych and paed yesterday and both mentioned direct payments, I hadn't said anything about the respite btw. What are they and would they apply to us. Thanks.
