  • Ebay dispute question?

    Hey guys,

I recently purchased an makeup palette on ebay. The seller said it was being sold at a discount because there may be a dent or two in the packaging, which was fine with me, because I wanted the product, not necessarily the packaging. Anyway, the palette arrived and right away it looked "off" to me. I searched the internet for information, and it turns out I was sent a counterfeit product. The original makeup palette is $60 in Canada, and I paid about $45 on ebay... for a fake of the original.

The same day it arrived I opened a dispute on ebay/paypal and emailed the seller. I requested a refund and said she had sent me a fake product. Her reply basically said the distributor she gets the palettes from said they were factory seconds (aka dents or whatever to make them cheaper) and that they don't accept returns on makeup for hygiene reasons so if I want my money back, I have to mail it back to the UK, unused, basically in untouched condition. (Obviously she's just gonna resell it).

So I emailed back and asked her to pay for shipping because it's going to cost me a lot to send it to the UK and as a seller it is her responsibility to know what product she is selling and whether or not it is a genuine product. She just replied and basically said she is not responsible to pay for shipping so I better find the cheapest way I can to send it and once she gets it, she'll issue a refund.

So basically, I am looking on advice as to what to do. I'm just really ticked over the whole situation. I'm scared that if I send it back, I have no way to prove it and she won't give me my money as she never even apologized and has been quite abrupt, so I don't really trust her. What if I had tried the makeup and the then realized it was fake.. could I not have got my money back? When I was openning the package the box got a small rip on it.. is that reason not to give me my money back? Should I contact the other buyers who left positive reviews and obviously don't realize this is a fake to tell them it is? I don't know if I should escalate the claim or not as it is supposed to close 20 days after it opens and I don't want my dispute to close before I get my refund and then I'm screwed.

Sorry this is so long! I know I need to be a smarter shopper next time, but any advice would be great! Thanks!!

  • Canadian marrying American.. visa process and leaving the country?

Alright.. so my fiance and I are planning to get married next August. I am Canadian and he is American. We plan to live in the U.S. and as I will have my nursing degree, I hope to be able to get a job as a nurse. Has anyone gone through the visa process before? What is the "best" (ie. legal, affordable, quick) method for going about this? Also, when I was looking at visajourney.com to try and figure all this out, it said once you're married you have to apply for change of status, and apply to leave the country. Do we have to get married in the U.S.? Once we're married are we allowed to go on a honeymoon in another country or do I have to wait till I apply for another visa? Any answers would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

  • Can I buy/transfer frequent flyer miles from someone else?

I am hoping to go on a trip to Europe with my best friend next summer before I get married, but as university students, we're both kinda tight on cash. I was wondering if I posted an ad somewhere, if I would be allowed to transfer or buy frequent flyer miles from anyone willing to give/sell them to me?? Right now I have Airmiles and United Mileage Plus miles. Thanks!

  • Staying in the U.S. more than 30 days..?

I'm planning to spend the summer with some friends in the U.S. but I'm pretty sure you can only stay 30 days without some kind of "special permission". I'm sure people spend the summer there all the time, but I'm not sure if there is anything I have to fill out before I go. Can anyone help me? (I'm Canadian, by the way, if that makes a difference).

  • working in US for summer?

Hey... I'm from Canada... and I'd like to go work in the US for maybe 3 months in the summer so that I can be near my boyfriend. Is there any kind of special allowance or visa I can get for such a short time? I'm still a university student... so it's not like I'd be running a business or anything.. I just want a part time job so I can pay for college in the fall while still being there all summer. has anyone done this before? I keep hearing that it's not extremely difficult to do, but so far i haven't gotten any details. thanks!

  • Canadian marrying American?

I'm not planning the wedding yet, but my BF and I plan to get married, I live in Canada, and he lives in the U.S. If one of us moves the the other country, I was wondering what kind of rights we would get. Like if I moved to the U.S. would I be able to work there like any other citizen? Could I but health insurance there? Is it just as though I'm an American but without citizenship, and if so, is there a way to get citizenship? I hope this all make sense... thanks for the help!

    Belaian Jiwa by Innuendo

Seindah tiada lagi kau ku ingatkan

    Sayang kau hilang

Menanti biar sampai akhir hayat ku di dunia ini

Kau tahu bertapa ku sayang padamu

    Hanya bidadari sebagai ganti

    Hanya takdir menentukan ia

    Oh belaian jiwa

Oh angin, sampaikan lagu ku padanya

    yang sedih pilu

Terimalah lagu ku jadi teman hidup mu

    Untuk selamanya

Kau tahu bertapa ku sayang padamu

    Hanya bidadari sebagai ganti

    Hanya takdir

    Menentukan ia

    Oh belaian jiwa

  • why are flights SO expensive right now?

They seem to have doubled in the last two years! I'm trying to go to South Dakota from Winnipeg, Manitoba and can't find anything under $700! Last time I flew there I paid $500.... and that was after a last minute $200 price jump. I mean... the flight only takes two hours and for double the price I just returned from flying 15 times the distance! What's the deal with these prices right now?

  • I received a money order and didn't cash it within 90 days??

my friend sent me a money order to support me on a 6 month trip i was going on to malaysia. he sent it in the mail, but it didn't arrive until the day after i left. so i just borrowed the money, planning to cash the money order once i got home. i just returned home and went to cash it and saw that it said, "void after 90 days" on it. being in asia from canada, there was obviously no way to cash it. what do i do with it now? i can't afford to just lose the money! is there a way for my friend or i to get the money back? i'm not sure if he still has his receipt, but the money order is of course signed. thank you!

  • Are you allowed to leave the Vancouver airport on an international layover?

I asked a question on here before about leaving the airport in Vancouver during a layover, and that seemed fine, but then someone else said that they don't want you to if you're flying overseas from there. I'll be coming from Winnipeg and flying to Hong Kong 12 hours later....so I don't really want to sit in the airport that whole time. I don't mind having to go through security and customs again, but does someone know for sure whether or not I'm really allowed to leave?

  • How far is the airport from Ocean Park in Hong Kong?

People suggested going to Nathan road while I'm in Hong Kong for a few hours, but if I can help it, I'd rather see some stuff that's uniquely Hong Kong, and I heard good things about ocean park and all the things to see in and around there. is it far from the airport and is it worth going to? Is it close to Nathan Road if I wanted to take a peak at both?
