Good travel insurance plan for Canadians?

I will be travelling to Asia for 6 months, and apparently travel insurance is a lot more expensive than I had planned for. I'm 19, and I don't have a membership anywhere....does anyone know of any reasonably priced places I can go to get travel insurance?

Phone all of the major banks. Even if your accounts are with one bank the best insurance offered may be with another. I found that out last year when travelling for a month only to the US and I just turned 70 and was shocked with the price ranges - 5 prices ranging from a low of $465. to $2,500.

Understand that changed from when I was 69 and the prices were all about the same at $90.

Your local bank may offer insurance services. I have insurance through my university. Look in the phone book and really shop around. Try your travel agent, they sometimes know the best company especially since it is a long trip.

    have a good trip!

I use travelEx too. Hah! Tom - Same company. But I bet I've been travelling longer than you! :)
