  • Is he really interested in me or is he stringing me along?

The sad part is that I already likely know the answer to this, but I wanted other opinions. It's sad that in my 30's I still don't understand men and why they think and act the way they do.

I've been talking to this guy for 5 months now via phone, Facebook and text. We attended the same high school years ago and have a lot of mutual friends. He knows I'm interested in him, but he has yet to ask to see me or ask me out or anything (although he has said things like 'We'll hook up' or 'I'll see you when I come out there (meaning to the city I live in)". He always says he's busy or has a lot of things going on in his life, which we all do. He also has custody of his two children (boys) from a prior relationship, and those children live with him. I already knew this and it doesn't bother me. He also works full time, and he lives an hour away from me (although he visits my city since he has relatives who live here, including his mother).

Just recently I decided to put my pride aside and ask him out, my treat, and he never gave me an answer (this was by text)! I then wanted to know where I stood with him. Again, no response. It's as if he's blowing me off and I felt so silly. And at this point I would hate to think I wasted all my time on a guy who never had any intentions of seeing me. He is fine and single, and I'm sure he has a lot of women after him. I just hate myself for falling into his trap. whether he intentionally set it or not.

So what do I do at this point? I mean, he hasn't flat out said 'I'm not into you, leave me alone' but yet he's not asking me out either! I think he doesn't want to burn bridges by possibly hurting my feelings because he has a rep of being a nice guy, but at the same time I'm tired of feeling like I'm having a game run on me. I'd appreciate it if he just told me the truth, even if it was something I don't want to hear, rather than he continue to lead me on. I'm totally confused at this point. Help!

  • Is there a chance I'll get the job?

On 11/3 I had a job interview with a credit union. Specifically, I first had to take a written assessment test, which I passed. Had I failed, I wouldn't even have made it to the face to face interview phase. Next, I had an interview with the HR rep and one of the managers in the department that I would potentially be working in. I feel things went good. I let them know that a manager I used to work with at my old job works there currently, and that she gave me a recommendation. I had provided recommendations from Linked In, as well as references. I also signed one of those background check consent forms. The HR rep stated it would be around wo weeks or so before I hear anything, but that it may be longer due to the credit union doing an extensive background check (criminal and credit, among other things), and the check is done by an outside agency.

Long story short, it's been over three weeks and I haven't heard anything. I did call the HR lady on 11/24, but she wasn't in so I left a message. Didn't hear from her, so I assume she was on Thanksgiving vacation. I guess I'm worried because I've been out of work for over a year now and I really want this job. Any advice? Is it safe to assume I'm in the background check phase (background/credit squeaky clean)?

  • Do you think this was a rude thing to do?

My brother died in a car accident over a week ago. He was only 22. His funeral was held the other day, and his friend who was driving the car my brother was in attended the funeral (he caused the crash and was bailed out of jail, but I'm sure he'll be facing some serious charges shortly).

Long story short, I felt a bit uncomfortable during the reflections part of the service, where family and friends had the chance to go to the podium to offer condolences and speak about my brother. So why did this one woman go to the podium and say something like 'I do not know the family, however I wanted to offer my support to 'T' (my brother's friend)....' I swear all the pall bearers were staring at this woman crazy, and she was quick to go back to her seat..Didn't offer any condolences or anything. What nerve! I know it's over and done with, but it still bothers me as well as a few others. How would you have handled this situation?

  • How do I find out more information regarding a Veteran?

My dad passed away a few days ago in Missouri. I live in California, and have lived out here since 2 years old (I'm in my 30's now). Through stories and pictures I found out that my dad served in Vietnam and was in the Army. He received an honorable discharge..I believe sometime in the early to mid 80's. It hurt that my dad passed, being that I just talked to him a day before his death. Where online can I find out more information about his Army service or if I'm entitled to any type of benefits? Any info would be appreciated.

  • Is it safe to say I'll never hear from the company?

I interviewed for a job recently. Everything went well on the interview, or so I thought. The rep told me at the time that she would be traveling, but will make sure my info is submitted for a 2nd interview. 2 weeks after, I hadn't heard anything from her, so I called and left her a message checking my status. I guess I messed myself up doing that, because here it is a week since I left that voice message, and I haven't heard from her. I hate when employers get my hopes up, only for them to get dashed. Especially now when I've been out of work for months and desperately need work. Your thoughts?

  • What fast food chains do you wish were in your area?

I live in the Bay Area (Oakland area), CA. I was thinking about all the fast food places I've seen/eaten at in other areas/states, but don't have these places near where I live. I wish I did! Here is my list:

Rally's (Ate here in St Louis a few years ago, and just recently in L.A.)

White Castle (Eat here whenever I visit St Louis)

Dunkin' Donuts (They advertise nationally, but there are none located in my immediate area)

Sonic (Ate here in Modesto, CA recently)

Steak n Shake (Saw one in St Louis, but never got to eat there.)

    What are your chains?

  • Surgical or medical abortion?

FIRST OFF, I DON'T NEED ANY JUDGMENTAL ANSWERS OR COMMENTS TO MAKE ME FEEL WRONG OR GUILTY, I JUST WANT CALM ADVICE AND FACTS. WITH THAT SAID...........

I took a pregnancy test today and found out I'm pregnant. I would guess I'm about 3 or so weeks along. My plan is to go for the medical (pill) abortion as it's not invasive as the traditional method. If any women out there have had a medical abortion recently, please tell me your experiences. I'm curious if going thru the process involves missing any days or work, which I really can't afford to do (being that I'm getting laid off next year, hence the main reason for an abortion. I'm not financially stable). I just want reassurance more than anything. And thank goodness my man is supportive of me, which is really what I need right now.

If any health professionals can answer this, please do! Any ignorant comments will get thumbs down.

FYI, I'm 32, not married and have never been pregnant until now. I've always used condoms up until this point, but obviously in this case there was a mishap with one.

  • Should I look for a new job now or wait?

I just learned today that my job's location will be closing by March 31 of 2009. I'll be retained as a transitional employee untill that time and then let go. Should I stay until the end I get paid a severance, plus extra incentives. I want to be prepared to have a new job by that time to make a smooth transistion. Is there something I can do now, or should I just relax for a minute. I've never been through this before.

  • Is there a fast food place that's not in your state that you wish were in your state?

I'm still wondering why there is no White Castle in California! When I go back home to Missouri I always have to have White Castle while I'm out there. In Cali, they sell the frozen White Castle burgers, but it's not the same.

  • Am I too intimidating to date?

I'll admit that I haven't made the best decisions with dealing with men in my past. I also admit to having my heart broken a couple of times. So needless to say I have a guard up around my heart. I'm wondering is this backfiring against me. Mainly because I may unknowingly give off a 'don't want to be bothered' type vibe. Which I try not to. I try to be nice and friendly towards guys. But at the same time I think back on my past negative experiences. Next thing you know, my heart is guarded again. I want to know how to overcome this, because it's been a long time since I've been asked out on a date, and this issue is likely the reason. I don't want every man that approaches me to think I'm mean and bitter. At the same time I don't want to push potential good ones away. Help!

  • Why do women with bad attitudes seem to attract the most men?

They say that nice guys finish last. How about nice girls?

I can't speak for all areas, but it seems where I am the dudes litterally break their necks to get with the loud, hoochie, half dressed, bad mouth women with the Tiffany 'New York' Pollard type attitudes. I am the complete opposite of all of that (as well as attractive and smart), but yet I can't get a man to date me to save my life!

I feel these type of women ruin things for the nice decent women out here. Next thing you know, dude who deals with Ms loud mouth gets his feelings hurt. Then he'll go around complaining about no good women out there. Go figure!

Has it come to the point where us nice girls have to act all out of line in order to get men to notice us and ask us out? What's the deal?

  • Loosing belly fat! Please Answer!?

It seems that even when I eat the smallest portions of food, my stomach balloons out of control. I've always had kind of a pot belly stomach ever since I was a little girl. However, it seems whenever I eat or drink something, my stomach blows up. Next thing I know, I look pregnant when I'm not. Is this bloat or what? Besides sit ups and sucking in my stomach, what can I do to fix this? Are there certain foods that I shouldn't eat? Any products I can use? Help!

  • Is silence the latest way to reject someone? Please help?

Long story short, there's a guy at work who I'm interested in. I remembered that his birthday is coming up at the end of the month. So I sent him an instant message saying this and asking if he had any plans for his birthday. He said not yet. So I say 'Well, if you have no plans by then, I wouldn't mind treating you to a drink. I'll be off on your birthday anyway since I'm moving to a new place.'

Now he acknowledged me mentioning moving, asking where I was moving to. But he didn't even acknowledge my drink offer. It's as if I never said anything to him.

Then I thought maybe I was too forward or may have offended him. He is quiet and work focused. So I sent another message apologizing if I was too forward, and he said 'It's cool,' but still no response to my drink offer!

This happened last week, and I haven't said anything to him since, but I take this to mean that he's either stunned silent or just not that into me. Thoughts?

  • Question about apartment viewing process?

I viewed an apartment last weekend that I really like and is in my price range. I filled out an application and provided a copy of my credit report right on the spot. The lady showing the apartment seemed impressed with me and my application. .Not to mention the fact that I provided the credit report right then (I got it free as opposed to having to pay 25 dollars for a credit check).

I'm trying to be positive that I'll get this place, and I wonder how long it will take for me to hear back from someone regarding the apartment, if I hear from anyone at all (the lady had even saved my number in her cell phone). Or should I call them? The lady had quite a few applications already before mine, but I feel that I have an edge being that I provided a copy of my credit report upfront, and I may have been the only one to do that. Thoughts?

  • Why do some big women wear clothes that are way too tight?

Now before people jump on me, I am aware that I have no right to dictate what people can wear. I'm a size 12 myself, so in no way am I a skinny minnie. But at least I do wear shirts that are appropriate for my size.

I see way too many big women wearing tops that are way too tight and small, and it is not cute. I see it every day at work, and it looks tacky. No one wants to see lumps, bumps and rolls popping out of a top that's two times too small, especially at work.

Big women need to wear tops that are more forgiving to their shape, and stop trying to dress like these skinny women. There are plenty of stores like Ashley Stewart and Lane Bryant and Torrid that have cute tops that are size appropriate. Anyone else have opinions on this?

  • The process of moving out of an apartment?

My lease will be up on July 1st, and this week I'm mailing off my 30 day notice. I've lived here almost four years, and I guess the concern I have is getting all of my security deposit back. I'm aware everything needs to be cleaned. And since I've only lived here by myself, there is literally no damage to the place other than tiny holes in the wall from pictures I have hanging on the walls. The only concern I would have is the carpet. It does have almost 4 years of normal wear and tear, I also have a faint red spot on the carpet from a red rug that I had on the floor, and the color bled through to the carpet. Could this be held against me? Any info about the moving out process would help. If it matters, I'm in California (Bay Area).

  • Penicillin after root canal..Help!?

Ok I had my second root canal today on my back molar. The first root canal my regular dentist performed 2 yrs ago on another molar. At the time he prescribed Vicodin only (which I ended up not needing..I took Advil).

This time around a entodontist(sp?) that my dentist hired 6 months ago did the root canal. Along with the pain killers, he also prescribed penicillin. I was advised to take 1 pill every 6 hours for 7 days.

Now the pain I'm not worried about (in both root canal cases I was not in pain before the treatment). But I am worried about this penicillin. I've never taken this before, and I wasn't prescribed with it the last time, all though in both cases my molars were infected. Please provide me with any information you can, especially dental professionals! Thank!
