  • Optimal Toe/Camber Config. For RWD?

I have a 2011 BMW 528i. From the factory it s set up with positive camber in the front axle and a lot of negative in the rear and this causes understeer, or at least a tendency for the front axle to push around most corners. I am thinking of tuning the front camber to -1.5 (negative) to match roughly whatever camber is in the rear. Then, perhaps I am thinking of tuning just a touch of negative toe on the front axle to help with turn in. This is for a spirited daily driver, street use. Any suggestions or information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

  • Why 0w20 oil is death to red bearings?

Has anyone made the switch from 0w20 to 5w30 oil? it made a huge difference for me and the engine really loved it. 0w20 oil is too thin for the rod bearings and while it is likely fine for the average driver, this thin oil accelerates the wear of your bearings very quickly when driven aggressively. what do you people think?

the whole 0w nonsense is in north america only because of the CAFE requirements. before you guys start to bleat about how I am not following manufacturer recommendations, take a look at what the company spec's for any country except canada or the US. it will be 5w30 oil. and yes, I know all of you will say that 0w20 is the same as 5w20 at operating temperature, bulls*it. there is no magical chemistry at play here which dictates that a thinner oil can somehow protect your bearings as effectively as a 5w would.

try making the switch, and see what I mean. your engine will thank you for it.

  • Do full throttle pulls clear out a Catalytic Converter (please refer to details)?

since everyone on this website is stupid and offers no details, here goes. vehicle in question is a 2015 mazda 6 2.5L. 70k KM on it runs and drives perfectly fine. recently made the switch to 5w30 oil and the engine loved it. anyways, my dad is a careful driver and never accelerates aggressively. I got the chance to take it out last night and did a couple full throttle pulls. it smelled very strongly like cats after the first pull. I did two more and the smell was still there, albeit much less strong. is it possible that I am clearing out the cats if the vehicle is never driven like this?

  • Any use in changing control arms if only my ball joints need to be replaced?

a mechanic tried to rip off me and my dad (as usual) by claiming we need new control arms because there was play in the ball joints. does it make any sense to replace just the joints if the labour is the same? i dont really care if the amount of work is the same, thats his problem. im not willing to spend money on something that doesnt need to be fixed.

  • lamb in the slow cooker?

hi, i took a piece of boneless lamb leg, approx 2.2kg and put it into my slow cooker with some olive oil, rosemary, garlic, lemon, honey, salt/pepper, etc. i know i shouldve added onion but anyways its been about 4 hours and ive tried a piece and its about medium/ medium well. should i cook it for another 4 hours and turn it into shredded lamb or is 4 hours enough? i know it is probably personal choice but what do you people think?

    thanks alot
