Outfits vs Sleepers -- why do you have to get so many outfits as gifts?

which do you prefer to dress your baby in??

Up until about 6months I prefer to just use sleepers which makes alot of shower gifts useless as people seem to think you need a million cute little outfits. I dressed my daughter in sleepers to go out until she was at least 6months old and now again with my son who is 2months old, he is always in sleepers whether we are at home or out, and all tucked up nice and snuggly with a blanket in his carseat....I just find them quick, easy, convenient and probably more comfortable for baby. I have some really cute outfits but I honestly just can't be bothered!

Update:

I also had a bunch of cute outfits for my daughter which never got worn and only ONE of my shower gifts came with a gift receipt.

Update 2:

I'm also going out almost every day taking my daughter to school and running errands so I need convenient. He's outgrowing sleepers so fast right now they don't even have time to GET used never mind LOOK used lol

I always had my baby in a sleeper for the first 3 months. I think the baby is more comfortable in a sleeper than in an outfit. babies sleep alot and I know I'd rather sleep in jammies then my clothes.

I'm definitely split on this one. For going out, or when in-laws come over, my little one get's dressed up in outfits. Sometimes multiple outfits, depending on level of cuteness, and how much spit up occurs before actually seeing people.

However, at home, sleepers are my hero. Warm enough to keep off the chill, cute enough that my friends still go ga-ga, and easy enough to throw her in and out of.

Personally I was just at a baby shower and noticed that very few people even gave winter or autumn clothes. And it's already october. Oh, well.

I personally don't like my baby in a sleeper all the time. I like dressing him in the cute outfits. & I don't see how a sleeper is more comfortable than a onsie and pants with socks? Just all seems the same to me!

I guess I mentally have never been one to wear my pjs all day. Even when I'm sick. Perhaps that's why. Yeah, sounds weird I know!

I actually am just the opposite. If the outfit is practical (meaning not really fussy or uncomfortable) I will put them in it to go out. When we are home or in the evening time they wear their sleepers, but out and about I like them to have on 'real clothes'. It is just because I have a cousin who never dresses her child and I always see her kids in nothing but tattered sleepers if she takes them out. This is all the way until they are like 18 months. And it just looks so bad and I feel bad for the kids. But I know that you probably have nice soft, clean sleepers and it looks perfectly nice. But I still have the association. So my kids are always in outfits to go out. And I never put them in anything fussy...that is just not right. Poor kids would be so uncomfortable. My daughter has NEVER worn tights or dressy shoes that cut her little feet. Always comfort should come first.

Totally depends on your lifestyle. I would use outfits to go out and something else (gowns/sleepers/Onesies) for home until baby was maybe 4 months old.
