At wits end! He will not stop throwing... Help!?
My 20 month old son has been throwing things since he was 9 months old. It has gotten even worse this past week. He throws (not only a fit!, but) throws anything and everything everywhere. Lately he's been throwing things in the oven, in the sink, in the garbage, at walls, people, the tv, windows, and just a few minutes ago shattered the glass in a door.
Heaven forbid anything upset him, he picks up the closest thing and whips it.
I have done time outs with me in a chair, time outs in his crib, saying 'no' until I'm blue in the face, tapping the hand, telling him why we don't throw, I can take a toy away, but he just grabs the next thing.
I honestly don't know what to do anymore, help!!
2 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhat to do for my son's baptism?
I am planning on having my son baptized next month & I was wondering what people usually do?
Like is just a nice outfit okay?
& do people have a meal or cake n such or what? if so, who do they invite?
It's been YEARS since I've been to a baptism, I'm a first time mom, and I'm not familiar with this!
Thanks!
5 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agowhen and how did you begin potty training?
I was just wondering what age your child was (and their sex) when they began potty training and how long it took?
Also, how did you introduce it?
Did you use a little potty chair of their own, or a little seat on top of the regular toilet?
Thanks!
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoMy son won't stop opening the oven! Help!?
My 19 month old son has been opening the over the past 4 months. In the last week or so he opens it CONTINUOUSLY!! I tell him no and why, put him time outs. When he gets out of his time out, he goes right back to it.
I bought these safety latches that I thought would work, but the packaging says not to use it on the oven. Does anyone have any suggestions?
9 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoShould I have professional pictures taken now? Or wait?
My son is 19 months old. I haven't had his pictures taken since he was 14 months and before that 7 months (I know, weird times, but it's when I have money). He has grown and changed quite a bit in the last 5 months.
I just wondered your opinions on having them taken now or just waiting until he's 2.
If I get them done now, I wouldn't get THAT many.
& please refrain from the comments of taking my own pictures to save money. I take pictures of my son, but enjoy having professional pictures taken. They capture a look I can't.
7 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoIs this a dorky thing to do-holiday ornament?
I found these crafty ornaments that you can put a picture in. Would it be dorky to put my son's picture in them and give them to family member?
Or would they be wondering why, after giving them a greeting card w/ pictures, would I also be giving them an ornament?

1 AnswerBMW1 decade agomoms, what would you do if...?
My son's father & I broke up last month but were trying to work on things. Suddenly a few hours after 'I love you, i'm so glad I have my family back, etc.', he told me it's done for good and he can't do 'this' anymore. I found out that that night he was seeing another girl he met a few weeks prior and had been talking to her the whole time we were working things out.
Anyways... my son's father didn't do anything but cause me headaches these last 14 months of our son's life. He was alone with our son maybe 30 minutes out of that ENTIRE 14 months. He never helped take care of him or anything. Suddenly, he wants him overnight tonight. I asked him if his new girlfriend was going to be there & his response 'wtf does it matter'.
I don't know what to do.
A part of me wants to say alright, let's see if you can handle it (& be thankful, if she is there, that he has help). Another part is like, hell no, I don't know this person who is going to be around my son & since when did you suddenly start caring?
Your thoughts fellow mamas?
7 AnswersParenting1 decade agoHow to discipline my 15 month old?
My son hits & slaps... & hard. I've tried the 'no' thing, grabbing his hand and tellin him why we don't hit, even tried slapping the hand. At first he would get teary-eyed for a second & then he gets mad and his harder & faster.
He also throws toys. I've showed him REPEATEDLY how to 'be nice' with our toys. Once again, he hips them harder & faster after being told no or stop.
Some days I'm at wits end because I'm not sure where to go from here. I look like a battle wound from a 15 month old!
Any suggestions?
6 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agohaving a hard time w/ disciplining my 14 month old... please help!!?
My son is 14 months & is extremely hard to discipline. He has been in a throwing toys stage & I say 'no, we can't throw toys, it might hurt someone' & the more I say no or stop, the more he throws & the harder he throws... at me. I have bumps and bruises all over my head & face from him throwing things.
He also started biting & saying 'no' & 'stop' doesn't stop that behavior either. I also say why we don't do it. Nothing.
Whenever I say 'no' or 'stop' he continues the behavior & even worse than he was before. I take the toys away when he's banging them on the tv, he gets something else & goes back.
Today he started unplugging everything from the outlets. & after a dozen times of moving him and saying 'no', I just left them unplugged.
How or what can I do to make this disciplining go more smoothly, or actually work? Or is it a lost cause with kids this age anyways?
3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhich is more possible for a woman to get pregnant?
From a guy who had a vasectomy around 4 years ago? Or by a guy that pre ejaculated inside her?
My friend found out yesterday she was pregnant & she slept with 2 guys around that time.
I have 2 friends; one that became pregnant after her husband's vasectomy & a one that became pregnant by him pulling out. I just wondered which is more probable?
7 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoanyone else have a LO on their nerves today!?!?
The day has just begun & I'm ready to pull my hair out!
The last 4 nights my son hasn't been sleeping well (last night, he didn't go to sleep until 1:30am!), & I end up bringing him to our bed bc sitting up for 2.5 hours in a chair gets old after awhile & he falls right asleep in bed. & I can't sleep well w/ him in there bc he's a complete bed hog. & I brought him to bed twice & he's up within an hour.
Today, since he's been up, he's been throwing all his food on the floor, when I tell him no, he grabs handfuls and throws it & then grabs his cup & throws that too. & he's been whining since he got up.
My lack of sleep & this child's attitude thus far today, make us having a bad day! Hopefully a nap, for both of us, will cure that!
Any other mamas having rough days?

9 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoways to help my 12.5 month old walk?
Today, I was told my 12.5 month old is 'delayed' in the walking area (by a neurologist). I was slightly taken back, but anyways...
He has been cruising for 2.5 months & stands occasionally unassisted for up to 10 seconds or so. He doesn't like when I hold his hands and try to help him to take steps. He gets mad, kicks his legs out until he's on the floor & crawls away, or he jumps. If I hold him up, he jumps (damn jumperoo is haunting him!!). & if I put a toy out, even 6 inches away from him, he'll drop & crawl to it.
Are there any ideas on ways to help my little guy walk? I know he'll eventually do it some day, but I want to make sure I'm doing little things to help him. He has a walk & ride thing that he sometimes will walk behind, so we do try that. Any others?
Thanks!
9 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoI feel like I'm saying 'no' all day long to my 1 year old?
My son gets into everything, as year old children do. I keep saying 'no' what seems like the whole day & I feel horrible for it, but I don't know what else to do. He pulls down our dishwasher door & starts pulling out the items (silverware, plates). I can't lock the door bc he turns the knob to start it, so I have to say no. He pulls down the oven door, another 'no' is said. He bangs on the tv with toys. I take the toys away, he uses his hands. He knocks over the dog's water dish & food various times throughout the day. & it's hot out, I can't put the water up, out of reach. I've been saying 'no' to him about these things for the last 3 months & he does them just to be a little stink. He'll laugh after it or crawl away really quick, knowing he's into trouble.
Please help! This is getting really frustrating & I'm getting tired of constantly feeling like the bad guy. I want my son to explore, but his safety comes first of course.

8 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoMy 11mo old keeps shaking his head?
He started this a little over a week ago & the number of times he does it has increased. He doesn't appear to shake it to mean 'no' because he does it all different times. When he's playing, eating, sitting with me. I know he's teething too & his top teeth are about to come in, so I wasn't sure if that's what it might be. He'll shake his head back & forth between 3-10 times or so.
Have any other mom's had children that have done this? Any ideas?
4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoMy 11month old whines incessantly for food when others eat around him...?
Whenever someone around him is eating he whines, even after he just ate.
& when he eats, he can eat & eat. The problem mostly occurs when we're out at a resturant. He starts whining the second he sits in the highchair, through when the food comes, and the whole time we're eating. & by whining, I mean loud, almost screaming, until we give him food. Obviously I don't want to give into him, causing problems in the future, so I'd like to end it now. Any ideas on what I can try to do?
& how much is "normal" for an 11month old to eat?
& I don't need comments like 'then just don't bring him to resturants'.
