  • should I put my cat to sleep ?

My cat has always been healthy and enjoyed a very active life living mainly outside (out of choice) but now she is 16 and a half she has had to come in the house permanently because she has lost pretty much all her body fat.. she feels really skinny and skeletal, she can't groom herself and is very doddery... We took her to the vets a while ago (when she wasn't as bad as she is now) where she had blood tests done for thyroid, liver and kidney function etc... every test was either negative or inconclusive... The vet said she could have a hidden cancer but obviously that is hard to test for.... But that was a 2-3 months ago now... and she is a lot thinner now and has terrible matted fur but because she is so fragile there is nothing that can be done for that..

However on the positive she is still eating, she is using the litter tray so she isn't incontinent and she sleeps in her bed...

I'm at a loss... I love her and don't want her to do die any sooner than is humane but also I don't want to prolong any suffering.

    Thanks for any replies.

  • Does a male or female Hermann's Tortoise make a better pet?

I am going to buy a pet Hermann's Tortoise in the next couple of weeks. I have done lots of research in to the care of a tortoise and I am ready to have one but the only thing i don't have any idea about is what makes a better pet a male or a female?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

  • Is my baby gagging or choking?

My baby is 8 months old. When I feed her food sometimes I give her a spoonful then she seems to get the food stuck and she starts gagging/choking (this really upsets and scares me as it can last up to 7-10 seconds and she doesn't breath during this time)... Then she brings the food up and cries... This has now happened 5 times since she was 7 months old and if i'm honest I'm scared in case it happens again.... But that's not the point.... Is my baby gagging or is my baby choking which is obviously much worse? Does anyone know the difference?

  • Does the citroen c3 exclusive have full beam?

I recently bought an 06 c3 exclusive 1.6 Auto but it doesn't appear to have a full beam. Why is this? And if it does how do you use it?

    Thanks!

  • Russian dwarf hamsters to be kept together or alone?

I am off to get myself a little russian hamster today. I have kept syrian hamsters all my life, but I fancied a change. What I can't get my head around whether it's best to get 1 or 2 russian hamsters. Some websites say one thing like "it's best to keep more than 1 as they are sociable moreso with the males". But when I read other things on the net they are advising to only get 1 as they will fight badly.

Does anyone have experience on these little pets and what is better 1 or 2?

    Thanks.

  • Do you think my dog is pregnant?

I have a Maltese terrier and she should be heavily pregnant by now. She was first mated on the 1st January and there were a few more matings that followed over about a week (so the pregnancy could have started after any of those). She hasn't grown bigger and is not yet producing milk but I can feel what I'm sure is kicking from behind the rib cage (the vet didn't feel this). She had an ultrasound scan done recently which didn't show anything (the vet said that scans are NOT 100% accurate at showing up pups) The vet said she isn't sure if my dog is pregnant or not- but I can feel the kicking on the right hand side of her ribs so surely she is pregnant? It is not a heartbeat as it is a deffinite bumping that just happens every so often. But if she is pregnant she must be now starting to be over due? Can any one give me any ideas as I'm confused. Does anyone know if dogs can have puppies or at least 1 puppy with no sign that the dog is pregnant at all?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Buying a Whippet pup... But I have a cat?

I love the elegance and everything about whippets I have read up on their characteristics etc and it sounds ideal but there is just one thing I'm not sure about and that is, I have a cat and would a Whippet be likely to chase even if it grows up in the house with the cat. What I mean is would it see my cat as one of the family or just something to chase? Thanks for any answers.

  • I did have 2 spayed female rabbits but ....?

Unfortunately 1 of them had to be put to sleep as it had an incureble illness :o(

My question is - I was thinking of going to my local animal home to get an adult neutered male (I have heard that male/females are the best match) to let my rabbit have another friend. My remaining rabbit is a 5 year old mini lop. Would this work or can you never match up rabbits this old?

    Thanks for any answers.

I am taking her to the vets in the morning but does any one have an idea if this is cancer or a cyst. Thanks for any answers.

  • Is this a good food to feed my dogs?

I am using Butchers tinned mixed with Purina one (dried) for my Maltese terriers. I want to feed my little dogs well, so I have looked on the internet but I can't find anything bad about these dog foods so does this mean they are OK?

Are these in the 'good quality' dog food group? Or are they in the same sort of group along with pedigree chum etc?

    Thanks for your replies.

  • I feed my dogs tinned Cesar mixed with Bakers complete dry?

They do like it but is this good food for them? If not why? It isn't cheap nasty food and I think this is good. I have noticed a lot of people slag off certain dog foods but they often don't say why.
