How to get a part-time job in highschool?

Question

I'm in grade 10, and i really want/need a part time job so i can go out more. When you're applying for a job (ex.McDonalds, H&M, etc.) do you walk up to the cashier and ask for an application form? Or do you have to wait for stores to have the "now hiring" sign? I was also thinking of getting a phonebook, and just calling the local AMC or something. I've never applied for a job before, so how does this work?

Any other way to make money is also welcome--besides babysitting, raking leaves, dealing drugs, etc.

Hello. Yes you can try that but a lot of places are only looking for people when they are hiring, you will have better chances. Type in some store you want to work at and you can even send a resume online (ex: H&M and usually on the bottom of the page there is a link that says "Careers" click on it and it will give you more info). Try your fav . mall too. Same thing, find the careers tab if they have one. Try to include a cover letter, it will give you better chances. And you don'tt have to make them that long.

If the online thing does not work, go into some stores and hand in a cover letter and resume. 

Next, if they like your resume they will call you in for an interview. If they like you at an interview you will get the job

yeah, just walk in & ask for an application. or you can make a resume (idk how, my moms supposed to help me make one soon), & go out to places & just drop off a resume. if you drop off a resume, there's a high chance you wont have to fill out an application. you'll just get called into an interview.
