Do you need a Social Security number to get Direct TV???

Update:

I don't have a SSN because I'm not an American and I don't live in the states- I want Direct TV outside of US. I have a US address (mailbox) but I keep hearing that you need a SSN to get DirectTV- I'd like to know from someone with experience if this is true!!

    no utility or amenity would ask for your social security number...so no

    ????? No, but you need one to get other things-like a credit card or a DL (driver's license). Do you actually have a SSN????????????????????????????????????????
