  • I need a label maker for my Mac?

I'm running Mavericks. Anyway, what I want is a program that will let me put in a number, and will advance the number by one as the label prints. Anybody know of such a beast?

  • I'm looking for some software for my MacBook Pro?

I want to convert some vinyl records to digital format. My old CD Spin Doctor won't work with Mac system 10.8, Mountain Lion. Is there another program I can buy that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I don't want to buy one of those turntables that converts analog recordings to CD. I'm certain the computer will do a fine job of that. Maybe Roxio will update their software someday, but I'm not that patient.

  • Armed Guards at Schools?

My real question is, who's going to pay for them? With the present attitude toward raising taxes, who is going to pay the wages of the guards, the training, the guns, the ammunition and the liability insurance? I live in a city of about a million people. We have well over 100 public schools all of which have many avenues of access to the campus, so they'd each need more than one guard per campus. Having the principal armed faces the same problems of getting to the site of a disturbance and getting the rest of his job done. I suppose if the NRA is going to pay for this in every town and city in the US, I'm ready to go on board and back the proposal.

As my grandfather used to say, some people are so dumb, you wonder why God lets 'em live.

  • A symbolic political gesture?

Would you gasp out of surprise, but like anyway any politician who said that all politicians, state or national, in an effort to help balance the budgets, take a 25% pay cut, accept no fringe benefits and reduce the size of their staff.

Now, back to what might really happen.

  • What should be done with really old ammunition?

Many years ago, I inherited a rifle and a handgun from my grandfather. I have little opportunity to use them and cleaned them and put them away. I found the ammunition for both. It is quite old. Is it dangerous? How can I dispose of it safely?

  • In downloading some old time radio shows I ran into two terms I have never seen before.?

I know what an MP3 is, but I found VBR MP3 and Ogg Vorbis. What are they besides another way to encode audio? Is there an advantage to any of the 3 formats I've found so far?

  • What is the difference between a "links" course and any other kind of golf course?

I've heard commentators on televised golf matches talk about links courses, but have never known how they are different from other kinds. What other kinds of courses are there?

  • Canon lenses and DSLR question?

I have an old, but good, Canon SLR. It's an EOS Elan. I have three lenses for it. Would any or all of them fit the Canon XSi? I know the sensor might not be the same size as a 35mm frame, but that might be ok. The EOS lenses are auto focus.

  • Mac sound question?

This started a few weeks ago. Sometimes, I turn on my iMac, not the Intel version but just before that, and the little loudspeaker on the menu bar is gone, and none of the sound on anything works. Sometimes, I turn on the computer and all is well with the world. Is this something I can fix myself, and how do I do it?

  • Yet another Bible question?

I looked in the King James Version. It says, "thou shalt not kill." The Revised Standard Version also uses the word "kill". The New English Bible and the New International Version use the word "murder". Some people have told me that the Bible should be taken literally word for word. If that is so, then killing and murdering are the same thing. If I drop my hammer off the roof and it hits my neighbor on the head and he dies, I've murdered him. If they don't mean the same thing, then one of the Bibles is wrong. If it is wrong here, how do I know it's right anywhere else? How do I know which Bible is right? Will a newer translation come along in a few years that will make all previous Bibles incorrect.

I know they could all be wrong, but they can't all be right. How can a person know, if knowing is possible at all?

  • Burt Reynolds once made a recording I'd like to find.?

Years ago a radio station in the area would play a recording of Burt Reynolds singing something. I think it was called "Let's Do Something Cheap and Insensitive" or something like that. Does anybody know the real name of this song so I can start a search for a copy of it.

  • What are some movies that should never be made?

I really mean movies that should never be made or re-made. Titanic 2 should never be made. The Wizard of Oz, Casablance, Gone With the Wind should never be re-made. The Rocky series should come to an end.
