Is it a sign of covid to not smell or taste most foods?

But can still smell most non-food items, like perfume and deodorant? I’m also coughing and was slightly exposed to it.

That's a couple of the symptoms. Loss of taste or smell.

If you think you could have covid, contact your doctor and see if you should get tested.

Yes, one of the symptoms of Covid is to lose smell and taste.  It's not definitive but it does make it more likely that you have Covid.  Same with a cough.  You should self isolate and/or get tested just as a precaution.
