Does union insurance take out money from your paycheck.?

i got offered to work at union job. The person employee that offered me to work at his company said that its a union job and the benefits are great. He said i will get blue cross blue shield medical, dental and vision plan. I am not sure how union works. I was just wondering will they take out some money from my paycheck every month if i get the premium benefits and if they will take out money from my paycheck then how much will they take out. The job is 16 an hour and 36 hours a week.

How on earth would we know what they will take out. I had union insurance, and it was excellent. They took money out weekly for the premium. I am single, no dependents.

    Maybe

    Maybe not

    All union contracts are different

When I worked for a union I paid nothing for health insurance

Every situation is different, and no one here can tell you.

What the union does is negotiate with your employer for the conditions under which its members work, are reprimanded, compensated, and what kind of insurance members get and what portion the employee pays, and what portion the employer pays. You pay union dues for this service.

The union negotiates the contract. You and your employer pay for the insurance.

Some give you that option, others require you to make payment separately.

For any benefits that you are required to pay into, union job or not, comes out of your paycheck.

We have no idea what the union contract includes.

It may include dues that cover the insurance or it might be a payroll deduction.

There is no way for us to know how much they take out.

It is unlikely that it is 100% free.

Also, a lot of union benefits SUCK!!!

The problem is that unions have frozen the cost of insurance since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.  Since costs have doubled during this time, the only way to keep benefit costs the same is to reduce the quality of the benefit so it is cheaper.

You pay dues every paycheck to belong to a union. It is not free. That said, they tend to have much better benefits than non-union jobs in many cases.

They will take out a sum for insurance, plus a chunk for the union.
