What Goes On In Gym Class At Almost Every High School In America?

Every Time The Students Have Gym Class,Who Picks The Sport That The Students Will Play In Gym Class?

What Would It Mean If During High School Gym Class & In Other Places,They Only Play Sports In Recreational Form?

Can The Students Actually Pick What Activity They Would Like To Participate In,During Gym Class?

Can There Be 2 Gyms In 1 At A High School,Meaning That If Any Of The Students Choose Not To Play Whatever Sport Is Being Played In The 1st Gym,They Can Enter The 2nd Gym To Participate In A Different Activity,Just To Be Active?

I'm old, so this is how I remember it in California:

    1. The sports were divided by quarters, so for 2 months, we learned something like volleyball, 2 months softball, 2 months, tennis, and so on until the year ended. It was also based on weather. We had to run the mile once per quarter, too. No swimming or anything like that.

    2. I don't know what this means, but Fridays were kind of "lazy days." We just had to be up and moving, but didn't really do anything. Most of the times, we would walk around the track with friends and just goof off.

    3. Not usually, no. It's already predetermined, see #1.

    4. We didn't get this choice. If you were active, you participated. If you couldn't participate, you had a note that excused you, but many kids still had to dress out and would sit on the benches and do homework.

Also, I was in a state that didn't get snow or below freezing temps, so we were active all the time. If it rained, we went to the basketball courts and did something there. Kids that were on sports teams were exempt from taking P.E., and P.E. was only for freshman and sophomores; the upperclassmen didn't have to take anything. Again, it's been 20 years since I had to do this, so it may be different nowadays, and I know it was different for kids that lived in snow states, but I wouldn't know.

When I was in high school the sports were pre-selected by the teachers on a quarterly term basis:  volleyball, football, tennis, softball.
