My parents won’t let me take piano lessons?
They say that taking lessons is a waste of time, and that I can learn just as well on my own. Except, it doesn’t work that way. My piano is out of tune, so apps like Yousician and SimplyPiano don’t work. I can’t tell myself what I’m doing wrong, or tell myself that my posture is off, or fix my technique on my own. They say that lessons are a waste of money, despite the fact that they are cheaper than the majority of prices that I’ve seen. Also, the teacher lives in the same neighbourhood, so transportation isn’t a problem. Even though I’m capable of paying, they don’t let me spend my own money. I’ve already tried teaching myself using other sources, but it’s too frustrating to start off on my own. I want to play the piano so badly, but it’s too difficult to learn by myself. I can memorize and play simple songs, but I can’t progress past that. I know all the notes on sheet music, but if I’m given the sheet music to a song, I wouldn’t know how to play it on the piano. Having an instructor would speed up the process by a ton, being as they give feedback, correct technique, and teach you how to practice. I can’t give myself feedback when I don’t have the experience to know what I’m doing wrong in the first place. How can I convince them to let me take lessons?

You parents are mistaken. Lessons are just about essential if you want to learn to play piano. A piano needs to be kept in tune, even if no one is going to be playing it. An out of tune piano is useless.
I don't know how you can convince them though, but good luck.

That's very disappointing, especially considering that you're willing to pay for it yourself. Would they be happier if you were spending your money on drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes like many teenagers?

Your parents are completely wrong. Lessons are always worth it. They sound like cheapskates. Also, they need to get the piano tuned and you need to upgrade to Parents v2.0.

Piano music is boring anyway. Just wait till you move out and you can take all the lessons you want.

Well? Take them when you're older.

Have them read this question you wrote. In the question you laid out a good arguement as to why it is necessary to have an instructor, maybe if they read your words they will get a better understanding than if you were speaking to them. Good luck
