  • In general, do student jobs have hours that are flexible when it comes to extracurriculars/school sports?

Generally speaking, would student jobs have flexible enough hours that would allow one to participate in school sports and extracurriculars? I know it mostly depends on what type of job it is and what company you work for. Are student jobs only flexible regarding school hours, or would they allow one to participate in after-school sports? In general, would it be possible to negotiate with the employers regarding this?

  • I cracked the screen of my Samsung Galaxy Note 9?

It was in my backpack and it cracked. I think it was caused by something pressing against the screen. The glass directly below the ear speaker is chipped really bad, and somewhere between 10-15 lines fan out down the ear speaker, and two of those cracks reach halfway down the screen. I can feel each crack if I glide my finger over the screen.

I have no idea what to do. Screen replacements/repairs cost over $300 no matter where I go. I have enough money and I can afford to get the screen repaired. My parents wouldn’t have to spend any money since I’d be using my own money, but they say it’s a waste of money/too expensive and to just put a screen protector over it. I’m afraid that if I put a screen protector on it, it will ruin the screen even more should I ever have to take it off. (I can’t just go and get it repaired because I’m a teenager and still live at home, and I’m not quite old enough to have a licence).

I’ve never badly scratched or cracked any other device I’ve had over the years. This is a first, and it unfortunately happened to the most expensive one. I haven’t even had this phone for a year yet, and that’s why I’m upset. If it got cracked later on, I’d be a bit more understanding, but since it’s fairly new, I’d have it for a few more years at the minimum before getting it replaced. I don’t think the phone would bide well with bad cracks over a long period of time.

What do I do? Please help.

  • Is 15 too late to start volleyball?

Technically, it’s never too late to start sports, but what I mean is: is 15 too late to start playing volleyball and make it onto a team?

In 8th grade, I was on my elementary school volleyball team. Since it was elementary school, nobody was given any real positions or anything, but I guess I played the setter mostly? (I wasn’t tall enough to spike, and I wasn’t skilled enough to dive for the ball either, so I usually got second ball).

In grade 9 (this year) I didn’t try out for the volleyball team because I knew I wasn’t good enough to make the team, and I can’t overhand serve yet.

Next year, I want to make the junior volleyball team (grade 9’s and 10’s) and hopefully play either setter or libero.

Since I don’t really have any experience, is it too late to start?

  • How to feel confident in my body?

I'm 5'4 and around 115 pounds. I don't like my body and I want to be thinner. I am dieting and exercising to reach my goal of 107lbs. I don't like my body whatsoever and I don't have enough confidence to wear stylish clothes, so I always wear t-shirts, jeans, and a jacket to cover myself. What do I do?

  • How to get my bird to like me?

I have had a budgie for almost four years now, but I got him when I was younger and didn't know how to care for it. I want to earn his trust again, but I don't know if that's possible. I took the mirror out of his cage because he stares at himself all day, and I heard it's unhealthy to give a lone bird a mirror. He bites me when I put my hand in the cage. Is it possible to earn his trust and train him even though he's been with me for almost 4 years and doesn't trust me?

  • Will my classmates judge me if I wear more makeup?

I wear eyeliner and mascara, and I want to start wearing lipstick too. I have freckles, so foundation and mascara would make my face look weird, but I want to try it. (To lead up to slightly contouring my face because my face is naturally round). I'm a freshman in high school, and I'm afraid that my classmates will judge me for being makeup. I heard that people's first impressions of girls who wear makeup is "bitchy". I know that people's opinions shouldn't matter, but I'd rather not be judged for being insecure and wearing more makeup, and looking like I belong with the "clique-y girls". What should I do?

  • My parents won’t let me take piano lessons?

They say that taking lessons is a waste of time, and that I can learn just as well on my own. Except, it doesn’t work that way. My piano is out of tune, so apps like Yousician and SimplyPiano don’t work. I can’t tell myself what I’m doing wrong, or tell myself that my posture is off, or fix my technique on my own. They say that lessons are a waste of money, despite the fact that they are cheaper than the majority of prices that I’ve seen. Also, the teacher lives in the same neighbourhood, so transportation isn’t a problem. Even though I’m capable of paying, they don’t let me spend my own money. I’ve already tried teaching myself using other sources, but it’s too frustrating to start off on my own. I want to play the piano so badly, but it’s too difficult to learn by myself. I can memorize and play simple songs, but I can’t progress past that. I know all the notes on sheet music, but if I’m given the sheet music to a song, I wouldn’t know how to play it on the piano. Having an instructor would speed up the process by a ton, being as they give feedback, correct technique, and teach you how to practice. I can’t give myself feedback when I don’t have the experience to know what I’m doing wrong in the first place. How can I convince them to let me take lessons?
