How do you exercise in hot weather?

Just recently, I started a 6 week toning program. I don't want to lose weight, I just need to tone my body. I'm already muscly, though parts of my body needed trimming. Anyway, I've been running 40 minutes three times a week, no stopping. Today, however, was 86 farenheit (30 degrees), and I couldn't run for the full 40 minutes. So i ran straight for 25, rested for 3, then 10 until i got to the 40 (maybe a bit more in the end).

So what I'm saying, is it ok if I do this on extremely hot days, and run straight for 40 min on cool days.

Will I tone as effectively? It's better than no exercise right? And possibly fainting?

I must add that I'm doing strength training in between runs, with weights.

If you try hard at it, running every day in the heat is something you can get used to with time. Eventually your body will become more heat tolerant. In the mean time, a very good way to excersise in the summer is by swimming laps in the pool!! Make sure to stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water!
