Is this a total waste of time?

i am on here to entertain myself, not help others. i am underemployed at my job so i have plenty of free time, as well as i have insomnia sometimes. that's why answers is a very good form of entertainment for me

I read through a bunch of them daily. If there's a ton of misspellings I know the person is really uneducated so I just read the content and decide if they are really asking for assistance.

Other than that I try to give a serious and honest reply every time...you never know when someone is in need of real help.

One problem I have here is that I am an older man with grandchildren and great-grands while a lot of people here are mixed up teenagers mostly worried if they are pregnant or not. I always recommend condoms. There's no stopping them (I was a teenager once too), but I can try my best to help them help themselves.

Some people make polls when they are bored, some people just want someone to listen to them, some people have random questions about stuff or want advices etc... People in super trouble that truely needs help should get help from somewhere else than a random web page, imo.

I see your point, but like most of the conversations I've had some times it's helpful and often it was just a way of passing the time.
