I will most likely get myself a dog in the near future, and I am currently looking into what breeds I should get, and how I can adjust my life the best way for my dog. I work 7-8 hours a day, 5 days a week, so unless I decide to pay someone to look after my dog while I work, he will be left alone for this time. I think I am above average active in working out, so I will probably be able to workout my dog in the morning before I go to work. My idea with this is so he will be a bit tired and want to relax until I get home again. Is this something that could work? I want a German Shepherd, or some wolf-looking breed.

I will probably consult an expert regardless of the answers I get here, and make sure Im actually able to give my dog a nice home. But some thoughts are more than welcome regardless :)

I have very limited place here, and I have been thinking a long time about buying a shelf for my oven and microwave, instead of having them next to each other on a table. Assuming the weight is not a problem, will there be any trouble about the heat they generate?

I have a string that looks like this: "Hello\nworld". How can I make php print the exact string, and avoid using \n as a new line?

I dont know very much about Adobe Flash, but I have managed to make a small "video" that lasts about 15 sec, and then repeats itself. During these 15 sec, I have some motions going on. I also have a script running that is making a water effect. Technically, if I run the movie with only 1 frame, this water effect would still work. However, now I run it witl 15 sec, and then loop it. Whenever it restarts, something happens with my script and Im assuming its restarting or something. This makes it very obvious that the video is restarting. Is it possible to have this script not restarting while the rest of the video is?

Fringe started out as a really funny and exciting series. I loved Peters sarcasm and Walters funny randomness, and all the excitement in their missions.

Now I am in the middle of season 3, and its turning into a drama serie about love now that I know both Olivias like Peter (one of them even pregnant) and Peter having feelings for both of them. Its pretty easy to predict whats gonna happen drama wise. I hate drama, in series and in real life. Is Fringe a lost case?? Or will it change???

Just to say an example: The Simpsons have a bunch of episodes where they use "Mapple" products, like myPod, myTunes, etc. Obviously, this is Apple, but the logo is slightly changed and have a slightly different name.

If I was gonna make a commercial video, could I legally have a family called "Sampsons", with actors playing the roles of the serie, but with different names, like Homor, Bort, Lisie, etc..?

For the record, Im not gonna do this, but Im curious as to how the rules are!

In this situation, a coworker is a person who cooperates with you and is on your team. I want to replace the "co" of coworker with a word that ends with ...worker, but make it sound like someone who is sabotating you or is not much of a teamplayer. The antonym of coworker, sort of. Does such a word for co exist??

I have a russian friend that I wanna tell a riddle, but she does not speak too good English and I wanna make sure she gets it. Also, try solve it if you want! Its really easy for some, but surprisingly many gets it wrong! I would prefer Russian letters (Cyrillic script?):

I have a square that I want to move across the screen. I figured something like this would work:

(square.XPosition is just representing the line of code that moves the square to the right to pixel i).

When I try to run this, my program doesnt even start.. It just hangs. How are you supposed to make something like this happen?? How does this stuff work in video games?? For the record, Im using C#, but I suspect it doesnt really matter what language I use, this way will probably not work in either.

So yesterday I (guy) and my friend (girl) had a minor argument.. Well actually, it wasnt actually an argument, what happened was that I made a joke about her job which got her really offended, as she puts a lot of effort and passion into this. But -- let the record show that I almost daily compliment what she does and that she is able to do what she do. So, yesterday she started acting a bit weird after my joke, and eventually I asked whats wrong. She told me that she did not like jokes about this topic and, of course, I immediately apologized and said how bad I felt. I didnt really argue about anything, that she shouldnt be insulted (even if I wanted to, as it seems my daily compliments have had no effect). So we went to bed after this (we are not in any relationships, so to our beds at our homes obviously). The last thing she said was something like "its okay, I know you didnt mean it like this -- but...", "this is forgotten in the morning", and then a "good night, speak tomorrow :)".

This is the first time this have happened to me and this girl, but I have had a few similar scenarios in the past with different girls. It is just a silly argument and probably nothing even close to what some of you get into, but when you are not used to big fights and this is the closest thing that happens, it feels a little weird to talk today. So Im just curious, out of my scenario, who should be the first to talk today??

Does anyone know any alien movies (horror)?? I prefer those with intelligent human-ish aliens so you get the feeling that it actually is an alien, and not just a monster. Signs is a very good example!

Im not really a movie guy, so maybe I have been missing out on some obvious popular ones! .. Even though Im aware of the predator movies :p

This new system is useless.. I cant choose what topic my questions are anymore, they are just randomly thrown into the totally wrong one.

Is it possible to make a query so that it will change the run time depending on if we use "distinct" or not? An example would be great!

My largest table Im able to run on is 30.000 rows, and if I use distinct on one of the columns, it gets down to 8.000. I have tried plenty of operators that I though would go faster, but it didnt. You can make an example just using t1 and c1 etc, if it is possible at all :)

I have a female friend that I wanna play some game with, but its tricky to find anything. Im not looking for shooting or RPG games, just something small that we can play against each other over the internet. Most of the games you find when you search for online 2 player games are games that are online but 2 players can play it by using the same keyboard. This would not work in my case :<
