Formal essay help!! (convention)?

Can I say "I" in the title of a formal essay? The body paragr/conclusion of course ive kept it present tense and not use personal pronouns, but in the title can I have something like.. "Who am I, Really?"

Or can i not use " I " in a title?

While this is unusual and I wouldn't recommend it, there is some precedence for this if the topic is philosophical. While Descartes didn't title his work, "I think; therefore, I am," the world has titled it for him as this is all most people know of Descartes.

If the context were similar to Descartes statement, then yes, I would use the word I in the title of a formal essay.
