Are you giving it enough room air to cool off? If not DO SO!!you could also put a small fan back there to help the air flow. If using a converter box( or cable box) with a switched outlet, use a 3 for 1 adapter & plug the fan in with the TV. I do.

That its been on to long when it sayys that turn it off for a while

It means it is not properly cooling.
