11 wk old puppy coughing/gagging?
Hello,
My 11 week old australian shepherd has been dry hacking/coughing and then gagging at the end for 3-4 days. It happens mostly at night when she's in her crate and early in the morning, but also occasionally during the day. She was given her kennel cough vaccine 4 days ago but I suppose it's possible she had already contracted it earlier. Or maybe it's a different problem. I do have a vet appointment later today to check this out, but I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else's puppy? Thanks.

sounds like kennel cough, it's good that you have an appointment. things you should watch for and check are
- her energy level, does she seem lethargic
- food/water consumption, is she eating, drinking less or more than normal
- her bowl movements, are they loose or have blood in them
- watch out for any discharge around the eyes & noose.
if you notice anything out of the ordinary for your puppy, make sure to inform the vet of these because it could be something more serious and could help determine whats wrong without getting too costly

Classic signs of kennel cough. The vaccine could have even caused her to contract it.
Vet will provide antibiotics. She must get the antibiotics or it could turn into pneumonia.
