  • Why does my cat hump my dog?

i have a 3 yr old male cat. he was neutered at 6 months and has never mated before. a few years ago, while in the bathroom, he humped my terrier mix CJ. last night i had both my dogs on the bed with me, and Woody (yes that's the Cats name) decided to hump my other dog, a puggle named Chucky.

i kept pushing him off Chucky every time he'd try, but i'd like to know what the root cause of the problem is if i can fix it and if anyone elses cats do the same thing.

he's an indoor cat and doesn't go outside, also there hasn't been an issue of him marking any areas of the house that i know of. and yes i know he's never mated before because i rescued him from the vet i used to work at and they had him in a kennel since he was a few weeks old.

  • Calling all Chow Chow owners!!?

I owned a Buff colored chow growing up, he lived to be about 11 then had to be put to sleep because of his hips. i'm also a groomer, and he was the first dog i learned to groom, so you can imagine the special connected me and Max shared.

now my question. me and Max used toplay a game, he'd come up to me and go "oof" and then run away, i'd do it to him and he'd get ultra excited. As a groomer i had a chow come in named Kobe, a little puppy when he started comming in. i'd do the same to him, almost touching my nose to his and go "oof" and Kobe woud get so excited his little tail would be wagging his entire butt.

the "oof" is low in sound and is more air than bark. my question to you chow owners is, is this normal behavor for chows and is it a good thing? considering the reaction from both dogs i have to think its a form of play for them and affection.

another thing with Max, when he'd get really excited he'd race up and down the hall way back and forth, he'd run up to you, do the "oof" then run away only to repeat. if we let him continue and get really excited, his eyes woudl kinda do a shark thing and roll back and sometimes he would nip or jump. again, is this normal chow behavor?

the last question is running off. Max, when he was younger would love to escape and run free. in fact, he'd love to play chase as well when he got out. is this typical behavor for chows? or is this behavor from when he was a stray?

  • What makes a car sling a rod?

I have an '01 Ford Focus 4 door sedan. she's got 124,000 miles on her. i've done well keeping her normal maintence up. about a month ago we took her to Sears and got her oil changed, they used high milage oil on her because she's got high miles on her.

3 weeks ago she started to act up; a few times when we started her up (from a cold start) she'd start shiving real bad (like she was wanting to jump forward). we'd apply a bit of pressure to her accelarator and she'd even out. she only did this 4 times and it wasn't every time she cranked up.

my boyfriend thought it might be the fuel filter was cloged, so we used gas treatement in her and a mid grade fuel. 2 weeks ago, when we got out of a resurant and cranked her up, her engine was making a slight knocking and was reved up loudly. we shut her off and tried to restart her; only then she woudln't turn over. instead we started to get the rapid clicking sound you get when you battery dies.

so we open the hood and the positive cable to my battery is severly ceroded. so we roll her over to Sears, they replace the battery and clean the cables; now her engine is making a loud knocking/grinding sound that wasn't there before.

we had a mechanic buddy come over and tell us she slung a rod, but it hasn't gone through the block.

i was wondering if you guys might be able to tell me what caused her to do this.

  • Car Engine runs cold, don't know what the problem is.?

i have an 01 Ford Focus. Took it in to the shop Friday because the check engine light had been on for a while. Mechanic told me that the Temp Sensor was telling my engine that it was running cold; so he replaced it.

Went to work this morning (Monday) and 20 mins into the drive my the thermostat hadn't moved off cold and the check engine light came back on. 5 mins later the temp guage moved to the normal place.

My drive is 30 min's on the freeway (between 75 & 80 MPH the entire way). i felt the hood of my car, and it wasn't as warm to the touch as it should be.

Is this a thermostat problem, or something else? Thanks for any help!
