What does the line "girl remember what your knees are for" in Sugarland song "Baby girl" mean?

It means remember to pray...Get your minds out of the gutter!

I know this is a very old post, but my wife and I were having this discussion and she felt like it meant prayer, but I, taking it in the context of promises and what not to make it in the industry had always assumed it meant that the record producers were saying it to girls trying to make it in the business. It got me thinking and I did a little research and I came up with this link:

In that post, there is a partial quote by Jennifer Nettles which calls the line in question controversial. In that I ve never seen prayer considered controversial unless it is in the public schools, I think she meant it in the way no one wants to believe she meant it.

People are dismissing the obvious undertone here because they don t like it. YES, it has to do with prayer. But YES, it has to do with SEX too .....

Remember what your knees are for -- i.e. your knees are for PRAYING and not to be on them in a sexual manner. It means stay true to yourself, keep God in your heart and remember to pray, and do not succumb to any sort of deviant behavior for any sort of gains in life (blowjobs for x perhaps )

It is very obvious in its undertone, and while it does have to do with praying to God, it is also meant as a reminder NOT to be on ones knees in other ways.

It is a mother telling her daughter to remember to pray. It has nothing to do with sex.

It means be strong and don't give in to all of the drugs and stuff and to pray to God, my sister is from Tennessee, in Pigeon Forge, a place where they use that kind of talk.

It means to not go on to your knees for a man, but for God. Meaning prayer, not blow jobs.

actually idk if ive heard the song or not but so me song i heard that reminds me of that line is talking about praying actually. hate to mix my prior answer and this one togather but both are possibilities. take the other context and see which one fits the best
