What do you think of the idea of accepting everything?

What I mean by this is the extremist view of acceptance. Can we be ok with _______? It seems to me that we as humans push against ______ causing poor states of being. So it makes me wonder if I can accept it all.

Comments?

Update:

Alright, be specific about what type of things should not be accepted and why.

    The answer is no.

We should accept other people, as people, but not necessarily the things they do (all of them) or their attitudes.

Things that hurt people, unnecessarily, no.

Most laws are based upon unacceptable acts, not that all laws are good ones.

Sexual abuse of children is not acceptable.

A person pursuing an art career, even though it is improbable (in your opinion) that she can make a living at it, is still acceptable; it's her choice.

Governments that murder their people are not acceptable.

But, realize this: what is acceptable or not varies from person to person and culture to culture and historical epoch to historical epoch.

But there is a lot of commonality, hence the legal system and social mores.

Being an individualist, I think that each person is different from the next and has his/her own sense of what is "acceptable" to him/her personally and what is not, in diverse matters, cultures, religious beliefs, political perspectives, personal views, etc.

The idea of "accepting it all" does not seem plausible to me.

Respecting the human rights of all others to their personal views does make sense to me (whether or not I agree with them), but that isn't the same as accepting all of the things that people do.

I wonder as well, if that would even be possible. Very interesting Q.

This differs for different society. In America it is more about being tolerant about differences rather than accepting. It is simple, you can`t make people accept anything, there will always be people who will oppose ideas. To have a society where everyone accepts everything will be a society full of zombies who cannot think or believe for themselves. Yes, you are right, it is difficult to accept everything. You should be tolerant and open minded about differences but you don`t have to accept it.

I don't think it's humanly possible. People reject certain things for reasons of their own safety and survival
