What does 'D & B#' stand for on a company credit applicaiton?

Filling out a form for my company, on a credit application to purchase goods, it asks for 'D & B #'. What is that mean??

I searched google, it came up with the same term used on lots of credit applications for companies.

Dunn and Bradstreet. They are a credit reporting agency for companies (similar to Experian for personal credit). In your case, it sounds like the number should probably be left blank.

Dunn and Bradstreet. (I used to spell it Dunne-duh)It is kind of a business pooling of information. You could also compare it to a private BBB. If you are self employed, it is a great way to get access to business to business services, along with a whole host of other great benefits. Many banks will blindly give out a line of credit for a business just for registering.
