If a nuclear bomb can eviscerate through building/anything laterally, why does it not penetrate downward into the earth as it expands?
Is the material of the ground that strong? I would think if it explodes and goes through multiple brick buildings for miles it would have no problem building a massive hole in the ground as well? Or is the ground that strong?

What is this new cat in the box theory about?
I sort of know about the cat in the box theory. It is meant as a contradiction to what physicist Niels Bohr had stated.
However, what is this new theory about? What are they trying to say?
Can you explain to me in simple layman's term? Thanks.

Is it possible to make an artificial black hole and use it to generate electricity?
Favorite Answer:No, ZPMs from sci-fi's Stargate franchise are not possible. They are, after all, science fiction. Also, if it were possible to open a black hole and generate electricity, for the electricity to be real, the black hole would have to be real, not artificial.

What is the airspeed velocity on an unladen swallow?
Favorite Answer:"Well, the most obvious answer- you might think- is “An African or European swallow?” But this is, indeed, where film culture begins to diverge from real life. Because in actual fact, none of the 47 swallow species found on the continent directly bears its name. We might consider the West African swallow, or the South African Cave swallow, however a choice between these two would be completely arbitrary- and neither is sufficiently studied to provide the data we need."

What causes goats to fall over?
Favorite Answer:There is a breed of goat called a fainting goat which faints and falls over because of a condition in their brain. It may not be a defect but rather a "play dead" defense mechanism.
There are also fainting cats and rabbits.
There are not very many because it doesn't always work if the attacker is hungry and eats fainted pray. It is natures Second Harvest Food Bank.

Physics: Two boxes and a Cord?
Favorite Answer:The masses can be considered as a single mass, since they are connected. (The length of the cord can be arbitrarily short -- so short that the masses are effectively one.)
So the mass being accelerated is M₁ + M₂. F = Ma, so a = F/M = F/(M₁ + M₂).
(By the way, submitting many questions in a short time -- you have at least 6 so far -- makes it look as though you are simply trying to get a whole homework set done for you. Don't go there. If you genuinely need help with the problems, post them in the Homework Help section (under Education & Reference), showing what work you have already done and where you got stuck. We can then give help where needed.)
