1 AnswerPersonal Finance7 years agoWhere can I buy large rolls of art paper?
Most art stores don't carry paper that is on the roll wider than, say 42" wide. I'd like to use some art paper that is much larger, say 72" wide or more.
I prefer hot pressed watercolor paper, but I'm interested in seeing what ever is out there.
3 AnswersOther - Visual Arts7 years agoWhat is the ideal wax to use for sculpting?
Hi, I am interested in making a tromp l'oeil effect of oil paint at a large scale (as free standing sculpture). I wonder if anyone can recommend a sculpting wax that can be colored (either with pigment, or whatever) and manipulated as easily as possible to create an almost cake frosting-like effect.
It's important to me that the sculpture be made from the manipulation of the materials, rather than by being formed in a mold. A certain amount of armature is expected, but ultimately I would like that aspect to be downplayed.
Thanks for your input!
2 AnswersSculpture7 years agoWhat is a "painting vocabulary"?
This is a fairly advanced question about painting --
I'm not asking for definitions of terms, such as gesso, alla prima, impasto, etc...
Yesterday, one of my professors was visiting my studio and said he wasn't sure that I'm developing a "vocabulary" within my work. I have used this term before to describe what I am trying to do, but I realized that I don't have any way of precisely describing what a painting vocabulary actually is.
I know there are a few experienced artists who peruse yahoo answers from time to time, and I hope that you can share your thoughts.
Thanks!

I am curious in which cases the knife is not worn. For example: if a group of three Yemeni men are hanging out at someone's home, would they typically remove it?
1 AnswerLebanon8 years agoWho are some contemporary authors based in Los Angeles?
For my own reading -- I'm interested in reading some interesting authors who live in or near Los Angeles, or who write about contemporary life in Southern California.
A couple of authors who I like already are Kafka & Ray Bradbury.
Thanks!
