Who are some contemporary authors based in Los Angeles?

Question

For my own reading -- I'm interested in reading some interesting authors who live in or near Los Angeles, or who write about contemporary life in Southern California. 

A couple of authors who I like already are Kafka & Ray Bradbury.

Dean Koontz - Most of his stories are based in the LA/OC area.  There are some exceptions, but most.

Elmore Leonard
These come to mind immediately.  There are undoubtedly many others.
