i have heard there is such a demand for houses now that people are paying well above the asking price just so they can have the house now...why?

It is  historic script... people have always moved from cities/urban areas to more rural areas and then find rual life is not all they think it is and want to move back to urban areas and the same th other way....... really depends on where you were born/brought up to what type of lifestyle you want and what you understand.
