Can an apartment complex deny you based on previous history with them?
I lived at an apartment complex for about three years. When I left the apartment had some damage that was probably a little more than just tear and wear, like ripped carpet (I lived with someone who had a cat but not anymore) and broken blinds.
If I wanted to live there again could they deny me based on my past residence there?

Since apartment managers and landlords don't know you personally, they can only decide whether to approve your application based on your past behavior. If you think your past could cause you to be denied, try asking coworkers, your employer, or others who know you to provide you with character references.

Why would they want to do business with someone who damaged their property in the past? Few people are as dumb as you seem to be.

Yes, they can. They probably will if you still owe money from your previous residency there.

Of course they can. Heck they can deny you if they call a prior landlord that wasn't you and the prior landlord gave you a bad reference.

Of course they could refuse to rent to you because you previously damaged their property.
