Yahoo used to be a big thing back in the late 1990's and early 2000's.
Yahoo Chat was shut down in the early 2010's and now Yahoo Answers is being shut down in early 2020's.

What happened is that the owners didn't bother to do maintenance nor to listen to users.
They didn't bother to make yahoogroups work, and then claimed that the users chose to not use the features.
They slowly took down yahoo!answers by not making the search work, disbanding the answers-team, not sending notifications of deletions...

Yahoo was overran by political bureaucrats starting in 2010. Verizon bought Yahoo as a means to cover up their dirty dealings. They control the publishing narrative. They are controlled by the leftist narrative because it generates more clicks and ad revenue for them. When they saw people were waking up they disabled comments on news articles.
They are shutting down answers so as to "clean up Yahoo's image". It's too late for that. They will let anyone with a keyboard and internet connection write articles. And they're all flaming leftists pushing liberal click bait.
