Definitely talk to your coach (that's their job, to help you improve while doing so safely). There are also tons of articles online to help improve running speed - some are running exercises and some are strength training exercises (do a search and see what you find).

The best person to ask is your coach. That is one of the reasons track teams have a coach.

As one answer said, interval training.

Running into the wind with a drag chute.

    Hill training.

Strength training and explosive muscle training.

Don't forget the arms. A surprising amount of sprinting is in the arm action.

Don't overtrain. Don't burn yourself out. If you are going to be in races longer than sprinting, you will have to balance your sprint training with your other workouts.
