Who's going to do all the hard work if everyone is rewarded equally?

Not a thing. IF........"equality" means, equality before the law. Not equality of outcome. The latter can only be accomplished by impeding others to slow them down, so the rest can appear to keep up.

Also, equality does not mean preference for your favored dependable voter demographic, no matter who that is. It does not mean revenge, or politically weaponization of the legal system for personal gain.

Civil rights legislation provided equality for all.

Affirmative action provided equity.  See the difference.  Where preference is afforded one, another loses.  That is not America.  lol

It's a tricky thing to explain, but I bring a visual aid.

An example I can think of occurred in Canada. The social medical system they have had a long, long waiting list for MRIs. Someone complained about the veterinarians using MRIs without a waiting list for pets. So Canada adapted the use of MRIs so that equity could solve the problem, every human and pet had to have a 6 month waiting period before they could get an MRI. Organ maladies and all. (Now no one can see the ball game)

    9.3 weeks

Patients also experience significant waiting times for various diagnostic technologies across the provinces. This year, Canadians could expect to wait 4.8 weeks for a computed tomography (CT) scan, 9.3 weeks for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, and 3.4 weeks for an ultrasound.
