If Trump is convicted in a criminal court of insurrection, would the 3rd clause of the 14th amendment prevent him from running again?
14th Amendment of The Constitution of the United States of America
Ratified by all States on July 9, 1868
Clause 3" No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."
KAG, you don't need to invoke constitutional laws, or any law, the only law that requires this is the 5th amendment if you are called to testify against yourself
PIE, there is currently a lawsuit against Trump for his actions on January 6th, and there will be many more

Looks like it to me. But Trump won’t be convicted of insurrection or rebellion. No one is ever convicted of insurrection or rebellion in this country. More likely he will be convicted of tax fraud, filing false financial statements, and violations of the Securities Acts of 1933 and 1934. And keep in mind that he could lose civil suits of all kinds related to January 6th and it wouldn’t bring that clause into play.
