Why are Americans so primitive in their understanding of socialism/communism?  ?

      You've said nothing to describe where America's understanding of socialism is wrong and how that understanding fails to describe what socialism actually is like. Unless you're saying that Republicans shouldn't be calling Democrats Socialists or communists because they are not attempting or advocating for giving all economic power to the federal government, I don't see your point.

      The concept of socialism held by most Americans is due mostly, in my opinion, to decades of the conservative propaganda that any effort by the government to make the lives of Americans safer and more secure is Marxist ... which is a load of crap. And, Republicans will tell you that they're all about freedom and getting the government out of the way of capitalism while they support a president and a Party that believes the Constitution gives a sitting president the right to do whatever he wants, legal or not ... Now, that's what flirting with dictatorship looks like.

So what you are saying is that you have no clue what communism is then.  I thought so.  Socialism is not communism, although communism has a large amount of socialism.

We have lots of socialism.  It is anything which is for all of the people regardless of income or taxes paid, as it is paid from government.  That includes public schools, roads, bridges, sewer and water systems, police, fire, even a standing army.  If there is the word "department" after it, then it is socialism.

Only an idiot thinks that there is only far right and far left and nothing in the middle.  Very few countries are far left or far right, and the most successful ones are right or left of middle.
