Does Omar Vizquel belong in the HOF?
Also - what do you think his chances are of getting voted in?

I could make an argument for and against Vizquel. The primary argument for is that Vizquel was an extreme defender at a premium position, winning 11 Gold Gloves. Many of Vizquel's career numbers compare favorably with Cal Ripken. For example, while Vizquel hit .272, Cal Ripken hit .276. Ripken had far more homeruns but Vizquel had far more stolen bases. And BTW, Ripken won zero Gold Gloves. In the against argument, Vizquel is an "accumulator". By playing thru his age 45 season for less-than-competitive teams he was adding up personal numbers but not really adding anything to the game.
I think & hope his chances of ultimately getting in are strong. The problem is that now there are so many power-hitting shortstops, people are not impressed with a super-defensive low-power shortstop. Vizquel was exciting to watch, even in his last years, and that excitement factor makes him worthy of HOF consideration.

He's gotten a lot of support, and may get voted in, but I can't really make a case for him.
