If what I'm seeing is the state of the Democratic party, do Americans need to keep them out of office and power FOR GOOD?

That's right. 

Anyone that is in high office takes an oath to "protect, support, and defend the Constitution of the US from all enemies, foreign and domestic," and when one fails to do that, they do not deserve the prestige, trust, and responsibility of their office.
