What happened to small villages? Whats the advantage of having everything so damn far apart?

Why are stores lumped into commercial areas and homes lumped into residential? Nothing is in walking distance we are forced to own cars and drive 10 miles to get anywhere it makes no sense... Gentrification i guess?

There are plenty of small villages in parts of the UK, many within a few miles of each other, but some of us still complain, as you do, about huge out-of-town shopping centres.

"Gentrification" is a totally different matter - do you really understand that word?

In the States we have cities where both residences and commercial stores are within the same city blocks. Some people who live in such areas don't even own cars (parking's a ***** anyway). South Beach in San Francisco and Lake Merit in Oakland, are like that.
