Is there any devices like Tivo or DVR that record from a HDMI input?

I was wondering, has technology a DVR type device that can take a Signal form a HDMI cable and record it

    Sort of...

    You can get a card for your computer that will let your record from HDMI, but these are for recording you playing games on a game console. This signal isn't encoded with HDCP, which is the copy protection signal used on all HD TV signals, blu-rays, etc. to prevent you from making perfect 1080p copies.

    Stopping you from doing this is pretty much the reason HDMI was made.
