what is the career outlook for someone who studies mechanical engineering?

I always wondered what jobs would a mechanical engineer be hired for?

With a bachelor's degree, the pickings can be slim. Go for the master's, though, and you can design all kinds of things. One of our kids is a mechanical engineer whose camera mounts and lens holders will be used in a space probe. It's her first engineering job.
