Do Japanese classrooms always face the same way?

The anime set in classrooms that I've seen all have the outside windows on the left of the classroom. It's also this window side that the main characters tend to sit.

So are classrooms in Japan all aligned this way or are there classrooms with windows on the right side?

Yes, most Japanese classrooms in real life do face the same way. Window to the left. :)

Most of the time, I have to tell people not to use anime as a research tool for actual Japanese culture. However, this is one case that's actually true. Most Japanese classrooms are set up so that the windows are on the left. There's no specific reason why it's done this way. If you ask a Japanese person why this is, then most will simply say that it is the "Japanese way".
