Installing Linux on a computer an all it says is Bootmgr not found?

I am trying to install Linux in a desktop to have a house based server, I downloaded Linux, Put it on DVD as an ISO file. I then inserted the DVD into the drive, set the computer to boot from DVD drive first and this shows BootMgr not found

Update:

I did use Imgburn to make the ISO DVD that I put in the computer and it says BootMgr missing

Update 2:

It is the latest version of Linux I am trying to install

Bootmgr is basically a Windows file, not a Linux file. I suspect the DVD you burned is not a true bootable version. Or, you are not booting the DVD at all, it is defaulting to something else...

Recheck how you burned the DVD, you should be using some image burning tool like IMGBurn or Nero, etc...

Some newer systems (Win8 or newer) use UEFI to boot, and some older versions of Linux do not support UEFI. Make sure you are using the latest release of the Linux you are trying to install.

Did you simply copy the ISO file to the DVD?

If so that wont work as it's just a compressed image of the disk, like a big zip file.

You need you use your DVD burning software to Write the ISO image to the disk, Then it will expand out all the files and create the installation disc, with it's boot manager and all that good stuff.
