Addressing "Thank You for Sympathy" card to corporation?
My father died in a business, a large national chain. The VP of the chain contacted me to offer their condolences. I mentioned my family and I were planning on finishing the activity in his honour, among other things in our conversation.
Today, I received two pieces of mail: one, the chain sent my family gift certificates so we could perform the activity in his honour; the second, they made a donation in my father's honour to the charity listed in the death notice.
Before anyone suggests this, I see nothing but kindness in this gesture: the business had no wrongdoing in my father's death, I think our conversation made it clear I had no ill-will or any thoughts of legal action, and we Canadians are just plain nice people who do things for each other.
How do I address the thank you card? Do I address it directly to the VP? To the chain? To the VP on behalf of the chain?
Thank you for your assistance.

Given that you have had direct contact from the VP of the chain, it would be appropriate to send the 'Thank You' card directly to him as he can then share this around with other personnel. Address the envelope to him, and inside the card address this to all staff of the chain. PS: Sorry for your loss and truly lovely you are able to continue on the activity in your father's honour.

to the VP on behalf of the chain. and mention that your father was pleased to work for such a wonderful company, and you appreciate the company had given him many years of employment. You look forward to completing this activity in his honor and thank them for providing the gift certificates to allow this honor be fulfilled.
What a lovely company.

I would direct your thanks to the person you initially spoke to. You may want to send copies to other officials in the business to thank everyone as a whole.
I am sorry to hear your dad passed away. As each day passes, I hope you see less of a shadow and more of the sun.

If you have the VP's name and mailing address, then please address the thank you note to him directly.
