You'll find it pronounced either, "awnt" or "ant" in America. There are many places here where people say things quite oddly. In some areas, they say "warsh" the dishes and in others; "yous" guys. I'm sure you've heard of "y'all" but have you heard of a "bedada?" That's how some people say "potato" here. It's like this everywhere. Regional dialects exist in all countries.

There are two ways of saying "aunt." I'll tell you both.
1) Saying it as "ant." This makes it a homophone. (Aunt and ant)
2) The other way is saying it as "awwnt." I say it this way.

Actually it has a lot to do with where you are raised and the dialect in the area. According to dictionary it can be pronounced ant (like the insect) or aunt (the sound like gaunt) arnt is not one of the pronunciations but in some areas this r sound has to do with the accent of the people of the area.
