    -3(x-4)>2x-28

    -3x+12>2x-28

    -5x>-40

    x<8

    ...

    |3x-4|>5

    9x^2-24x+16>25

    9x^2-24x-9>0

    3x^2-8x-3>0

    3x^2-9x+x-3>0

    3x(x-3)+1(x-3)>0

    (3x+1)(x-3)>0, which is true when both terms are either both positive or negative...

    x<-1/3 and x>3 or

    x=(-infinity,-1/3),(3,+infinity)

    5x<40

    x<8

    rule

    |x|>a then x>a or x<-a

  • solve it as you would equalities, just when you * or / with a negative number than you change the sign
