Will the imaging software allow me to image the old hard drive if I only have access to the "guest" log-in?

Full blown imaging software will be a bootable CD, meaning there is no login at all. Imaging software will just copy everything regardless of what operating system it is.
So, the real answer depends on what imaging software you are talking about....

You should NEVER have any power running to the pc during any removal/installation of computer parts, N E V E R
So "guest" log-in is of no Value
SSD=Solid State Drive
If an external, it should have the software to image the drive, but without ADMIN Rights, pfft........................
