How to set up a second Kobo Account on a laptop?

My 8 year old daughter received a kobo for Christmas. initially we set it up on my account, not realizing there is no way to block that adult content books from her ereader.

So it appears the best thing to do is to set her up with her own account, where the focus is on children friendly books.

but I can't figure it out... any help is appreciated.

You probably cannot UNLESS you set up a separate Computer User account for your daughter so she can log into her own desktop on your computer. I know this is possible on Windows. Hopefully your account is the administrator account. Read your computer's help about User Accounts and make one for your daughter.

Note - if when you installed your Kobo reader you installed it for "All Users" it will be available from her desktop but I don't know if it will also have your account set up in it. If it does, then in YOUR computer account you will need to de-register and uninstall the Kobo reader. Reboot. Then reinstall for "This User" only and register to your account. Log out of your computer account, log in to your daughter's computer user account, and install the Kobo reader to her desktop for "This User" only and register that one to her account.
