what should I do? I need the help of someone who understands gay people?

I am a shy girl and I like another girl for the first time. We have talked on line, she goes to my same school and she's a year older than me; we know each other but we never talked in realty. There are 2 problems: the first is that she wants to talk to me (in reality) but I am really shy, I've never talked with anyone I liked before and every time I see her, I feel so embarassed that it's almost impossible for me to start a conversation; I guess that I will have to do the first move anyway.

The second problem is that I wanted to tell my parents that I like a girl but it's quite difficult because they don't know it yet. The biggest part of the problem is that my father hates gays, lesbians and bisexuals; my mother is a bit more open-minded than him, but she wouldn't react well about this.

What should I do? I feel a bit desperate!

Update:

pierce: I've tried to talk to her on a chat but she didn't answer; that's why I'm so scared to talk to her; what if she will do the same again in reality? I don't want to make a fool of myself, I fear being rejected.

I'm in a similer situation at the moment (Just look at my questions). This won't be expert advice but I know where you can get some. The website I went on was called teenhut.net, they have experts there that can really help you out.

Additionally I think the urge to tell your parents comes from the fact you want to talk to someone about it, they've allways been supportive to you so you instantly turn to them. Going on the teen advice website will reduce your urge to tell your parents as they will give you the support you need. Problem 2 solved!

Your first problem, the solution is exactly as you said. You must meet her. For dealling with your confidence once again the internet is your best friend. There are a few wikihow's on how to start a conversation/find topics to talk about/boost your confidence and the proffesionals on teenhut can help you out aswell.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope I could help.
