Is Bigfoot really a survivor of Gigantapithicus?

With the advancement of technology, Sasquatch sightings are becoming more frequent. Is it possible that they have lived on the fringes of mankind? We have proof of Gigantapithicus (fossils/skulls), could this be the answer to bigfoot?

I don't think so. Gigantopithecus was first named Giganthropus by Von Koenigswald who discovered it but since then it has been classified as closer to an orangutan which is pretty distant from human. Bigfoot on the other hand, has be described as very human looking, and it has a bipedal gait and other features which makes me believe it is likely a hominid, and much closer to human. It seems it is too different to be as close as a Neanderthal but perhaps we share a last common ancestor with Homo heidelbergensis or H. erectus. I think it is also fairly likely that it shares a last common ancestor with us and H. floresiensis which may be H. habilis (over two million years ago). Yetis on the other hand are pretty bestial and maybe decended from gigantopithecus
